Misha is a co-author of DESPERATE, NC, a collaboratively-written mosaic novella centered around the fictional town of Desperate, located in the backwoods of North Carolina. Told through a collection of found documents and tied together as a futuristic museum tour, this unconventional blend of multi-genre storytelling and historical speculative fiction gradually unravels the mystery of what happened to the immortal residents of this mysterious and isolated North Carolina settlement. Misha Vaagen Lazzara was born and raised in rural Minnesota. She received a BA in Literature and Languages from UT Tyler, an MA in English with a focus in creative writing from UNC Charlotte, and an MFA in creative writing from North Carolina State University. She occasionally teaches in adjunct positions, as well as community and online courses in creative writing, the creative process and the intersection of creativity and spirituality. Misha is the co-host of Band Wives Podcast with NYT bestselling graphic novelist, Chondra Echert Sanchez. She currently lives in North Carolina with her husband, three children, and a Beaski named Lola.
